Acrylic, Graphite, Mixed Media, Sculptor
I am a "process artist" pushing the boundaries of acrylic paint on multiple surfaces including canvas, paper, wood, glass, Plexiglas and lamp shades. My work is influenced by the Florida ocean and sky, having been land locked in Shreveport, Louisiana for 27 years after growing up surfing in Satellite Beach. My dad was a pilot for NASA and my sister still launches shuttles so space and expansive planetary themes also play a role in my work. Currently, I am working on Plexiglas with acrylic, back lit for dramatic effect. For the past year and a half I have had The Highway Grrls Gallery and Studio at 1414 Highland Avenue in the Eau Gallie Arts District. The name of the gallery comes from the tradition of the Florida Highway Men, which my parents collected throughout my childhood. Following their tradition of being inspired by the beauty of Florida, I have taken this inspiration to a different and vibrant interpretation. Highway Grrls is open 12:00-4:00 Monday through Saturday and a big participant in the Eau Gallie Art Walk on First Fridays from 5:30-9:00 PM.
